Corny Poems for the Newly Dealt Economy

I am not a poet and I certainly do know it. And yet the times we are fast approaching are going to need a bit of humor. Read and weep, and then chuckle if you can. Compose some poems of your own and give your friends a good laugh. We are going to need lots of good laughs. We can get by with a little help from our friends. Here you go, friends.

DEFAULT ON DEBT
I lent them money and they never paid me back, have you such a friend ever met?
Our government has made financial promises and the repayment clock is set.
With entitlements and promises, the government treats us like a voting pet.
Our public has been lulled to sleep, as was our military on the Vietnamese day of Tet.
As a wound heals after the blood has been let,
not unscathed, we will get through this bleak period, that I bet,
but not until our friendly government has defaulted on both its promises and its debt.
It is time to be realistic and plan, not to fret.
Now for a government of statesmen, in our politicians, we should search for and before electing, properly vet.
In hope that with proper legislation our financial clock can be reset,
but of course not before we have fully defaulted on our debt.
After all our current government is no closer to us than the borrowing friend that we once met!

DEFENSE
As liberators of the world, the oppressed loved the US within their sight.
Our enemies were forced to run and seek flight.
Because we are the backbone of defense, yes the US is the military might.
Our defense industry lobbies never to back down, and always encourages a good fight.
But now it is time to reconsider. Our fat defense outlays need to go on a diet.
Because our fiscal budget is squeezing down, very, very tight.
Learn from the former USSR the costs of being a military power, try seeing the light.
It’s time to consider defending our own borders and forgetting every foreigner’s plight.

US IS MONETIZING THE DOLLAR
Foreigners laughed while chasing after all of our dollars.
Our economic might made them a bunch of followers.
Sorry we are too busy monetizing our debts to hear you holler.
Just go back home, relax and hit a massage pallor,
instead of choosing to jump from the heights of a very tall tower.
What else can you do, since we still hold the military power?

“I HAVE A PLAN”
So, of illegal immigrants you are no fan.
Forget such worries, soon you’ll be wishing to be working at minimum wage for Uncle Sam.
Recalling dreams of retirement, playing on some shore=s white sand,
suddenly replaced by cutting the grass to get that lovely tan.
Of politicians you are not a big fan.
Before blaming them, voters should look into the mirror – man.
Face reality and get ready for years of living very bland.
Think positive and we’ll get through this, yes we can,
because, “I have a plan.”

MONETIZATION
Yea here in the great US we’re fix=n a brew called monetization,
which just might cause a major case of hyperinflation.
Dem foreigners may hate us, so we’ll just try some good ole fashion isolation.
So fellow citizens, get ready for some US type hibernation.
Our radio and TV broadcasts will feature-blaming politicians- caught up with their rationalizations.
Let’s just hope our government does not follow the path of taking our remaining assets using a policy of nationalization.

MEDICARE
Of diet and exercise who should care?
Tired of moving slowly, just get prescribed a motorized wheel chair.
After all it is a medical necessity for all to run like a hare.
If I could only convince my doctor of the medical necessity of replacing my balding hair.
Forget the payments; Uncle Sam will cover the fare.
Take those medical bills and stuff them in the trash, after a tear.
To limit medical procedures would simply not be fair.
Of deficits and debt you should not worry or scare,
because we are entitled for benefits under Medicare.

RETIRING DEBT
Politicians passing our debts on to grandchildren is such a myth.
Try comprehensively reading our entire fiscal budget, rather than through it riff.
It would then become obvious, of our creditors the US is going to stiff.
Cutting entitlements and military would otherwise be required, and that is a big if.
Expect positive news from our FED, of confidence it will try to lift.
Keeping liquidity and debt available, while hiding from an obvious rift.

SOCIAL SECURITY
It’s an entitlement that honorable Congressmen went out of their way to curry.
Promises of cost-of-living increases, now old age was to be free of worry.
Of balancing the budget, I’m definitely in no hurry.
Why are discussions of cutting back causing such a flurry?
You’re making my dreams of early retirement become very blurry
I’m crying inside, due to my spendthrift ways. I foolishly counted on my Social Security.
